My fascination with the Aurora Borealis was realized in 2014 while I was at the Svalbard archipelago in January of that year. It was deep into Polar Night while I was in the world's northernmost town of Longyearbyen, walking to the town center from the guesthouse in the late afternoon when, I noticed an iridescent ribbon of green light over the top of a bluff. I knew right then I was witnessing the northern lights for the first time!

From Alaska to Norway, Iceland to Finland I traveled the far north as often as I could to try and catch the celestial spectacle of the Aurora Borealis, I was a bit obsessed with them. In 2015, a turn of events in my life moved me to Finland where I took a job working as manager of a newly opened aurora cabin resort in Ivalo - Lapland - Finland. While working in Ivalo during the fall through spring I taught myself how to photograph the northern lights. The following Aurora season I moved to Rovaniemi, Finland and worked as an Aurora photography guide further honing my skills an Aurora photographer. I spent one last season working as a Lapland photography guide from 2018 - 2019 before moving back to the states.

I currently reside in Seattle, Washington and travel frequently to Alaska where my wife and I own two log cabins on four acres. We have perfect open sky views of the northern lights from our front yard! I still visit Finland and other Nordic countries at least once per year, ever scanning the skies for Lady Aurora.
